What a great addition to my small MacGregor 26 X
I started using this product for the first time this year and I can say it has been a big hit with the crew and guests. I hadn't appreciated that on a smaller to a mid size yacht how you get accustomed to sitting in compromised, uncomfortable positions often without a back rest. That was until we started using this winch seat. The other noticeable hightened experience this seat gives you is that you sit higher than you would do normally giving you a much better view and perspective. We haven't used it much while sailing but while motoring, at anchor and on the dock there is a fight for it! Top product.
It’s become a favorite onboard! Our kids especially love it—it’s a fun addition whether we’re sailing or relaxing at the marina.
The winch seat is a creative design allowing for more diverse seating options beyond the cockpit. The seat itself is incredibly comfortable, lightweight, easy to transport, and takes up minimal space when stored away. Our crew is made up of adults and young kids, and we all love this seat! Highly recommend!
The seat is comfortable and does what it's supposed to do, but I gave it 3 stars because:
1. The insert is somewhat smaller than the hole in the winch, making it very wobbly.
2. The back of the seat is not attached rigidly, so if you lean back the seatback leans with you until you are almost reclining.
Other than that, the seat works and stows easily.
Thanks for your review! Although the swivel holes are pretty much standardized, there is a slight variation between the different winch manufacturers. Our bracket is dimensioned accordingly to accommodate for them all. The wobbly effect is actually as expected and you'll find the seat stabilizing when you sit on it. Regarding your wish for a more rigid back, some customers have expressed that they like the flex of the back. Regardless, thank you for your valuable feedback and we'll definitely bring it along into future development of our seat.
